Meet Donna – Founder & Candle Maker at The Candle Grove

Hello, I'm Donna, the founder and candle maker behind The Candle Grove.

Nestled in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, I spend my evenings and weekends hand-pouring candles and wax melts that bring warmth, fragrance, and a little touch of luxury into your home.

But The Candle Grove is more than just a candle business—it's the result of a journey that taught me it's never too late to follow your dreams.

How The Candle Grove Began

After being widowed unexpectedly at the age of 53, life changed in ways I could never have imagined. Over time, I found happiness again with a wonderful partner, Steve, whose encouragement, together with the support of my family, gave me the confidence to pursue something I had always wanted to do—create my own home fragrance business.

Like many candle lovers, I often found myself disappointed by candles that smelled incredible in the shop but barely scented a room once I got them home. I wanted something different: candles with a beautiful fragrance throw, made from high-quality ingredients that were kinder to both our homes and the environment.

So I began experimenting.

I spent countless hours testing different waxes, wicks, and fragrance blends, determined to create candles that looked beautiful, burned cleanly, and filled a room with lasting fragrance.

From Kitchen Table to Small Business

As my collection grew, I started gifting candles to friends and family. Their reactions were always the same—they loved them and wanted to know where they could buy more.

At first, I laughed and said they weren't for sale. But the more people asked, the more I realised there might be something special worth sharing.

Starting a business at 58 was certainly daunting. There were plenty of moments when I questioned whether I was doing the right thing. But I also knew that opportunities don't always arrive when we're young, and dreams don't come with an expiry date.

So I took a leap of faith and The Candle Grove was born.
